Google Sites: updates to the G Suite App

New Google: Google Sites, the G Suite App, introduces two updates that may affect you as an administrator, if you manage the console directly, and that will also impact your end users.

Starting June 10 in the Google Sites footer, or rather footer, will disappear the promotional Made with Google Sites and the button Create a site. This will allow your web pages to look more professional and your users not to be distracted by new input.

From May 13, Big G will also allow you, as an administrator, to make the date of the last update of your web page visible through an information icon. To manage this feature, all you need to do is go into ApplicationsG Suite, select Settings for Sites and Last Update.

Now Google Sites will give you three options:

  • Disabled (Disabled for all Google Sites) to disable the time
  • Enabled (Google Sites editors can control this setting) to give the option to enable or disable this option. Once this item is selected, the time of last update will be automatically enabled for newly created Google Sites
  • Forced (shown for all Google Sites, editors cannot disable it) to always show the time of updates. This is a recommended option especially if you want to quickly show your users that the pages they are browsing are up-to-date.
