How long is data retained in Vault?

You choose, you can set the period according to your needs, including indefinite retention. Ask our team.
Can I retain data if a user leaves my organisation?

Yes, assign them an Archived User (AU) license and do not delete their account, this way you can keep all their data in Vault.

Alternatively, you can suspend their account to retain data and disable services, but remember that a suspended account is charged the same amount as an active account.
How do I access data in Vault?

To access data, go to this page https://vault.google.com, create a matter, and search your organization's data. Of course, the Vault administrator can limit the data you can access and search.
Does Vault help me back up and archive data?

No, Vault exports are intended for legal discovery and not for efficient data processing. Vault is not designed for large-scale or high-volume data backups, you can export data for a limited number of accounts and only for one Google service at a time (not for Calendar, Contacts, Keep, and Currents). 
How does Vault log user actions?

All actions by Vault users are monitored and tracked in an audit trail. It is not possible to change the retention period even if a user has the necessary privileges, as this attempt is logged in the audit log. The action cannot be removed from the audit log.
