FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
With Google Workspace apps, you have the freedom to work securely from anywhere and with any endpoint (i.e., all company devices such as phones, laptops, or tablets). Through endpoint verification, administrators can control device access to organizational data and get detailed information about the devices making those accesses.
Here's a look at what the administrator can view:
- Device ID, serial number, type, and operating system.
- Your name and managed email address
- The first and last time your computer synced work data, including any encryption and whether the device has a password
- Whether the devices comply with organisational policies (Chrome devices only)

The supported versions for this feature are: Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise; Education Fundamentals, Standard, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Plus; G Suite Basic and Business; Essentials; Cloud Identity Free and Premium.
As an administrator, you can use endpoint verification to get detailed information about Chrome OS devices or devices with the Chrome browser that access your organisation's data. You can talk to our team to learn about the differences.
Supported computers:
- Apple Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11) and later
- Chrome OS devices
- Linux Debian and Ubuntu
- Microsoft Windows 7 and 10
If your mobile work device is managed by an IT administrator, you can get information about the device in case of loss or theft and erase the data it contains. You can only manage a device when it's turned on and connected to a network. You cannot manage the device when it's in airplane mode, but you can lock the screen, reset the passcode remotely, and perform many other operations.
Always inform the administrator that your device has been lost or stolen and consult them before erasing the device's data. Remember that this operation may not delete data on the device's removable memory (such as an SD card). You will still be able to access your work account through a browser and other authorised mobile devices.
