Google Workspace functions continue to grow and update.

 

Google Workspace over time is becoming more and more comprehensive and functional to ensure that all users have the ideal tools for any need.

In this article we have summarized the latest new features introduced this month in the suite of productivity software and tools. In particular, we focus on the new features that allow optimizing the management of Google Docs, Google Drive, and search within different tools.

Customize information management in Google Docs

The Mountain View company has improved the management of tables within Google Docs to allow users to customize them and provide more opportunities according to their needs.

Starting in November, it is possible to divide table cells into a desired number of rows and columns. Creating, for example, subheading fields by dividing the cell below another header cell into two columns.

The process is very simple and intuitive: right-click on the cell > click Split Cell > enter the number of rows and columns you want > click Split.

This feature has been made available for all Google Workspace users, as well as for previous G Suite Basic and Business customers, and also for personal accounts.

 


Optimize your search experience with new Google Workspace features

Google is constantly trying to help its users find more accurate and personalized search suggestions and results. For this reason, three new features have been introduced to improve search in Google Chat and Gmail tools, both on the web and on mobile devices.

Suggestions

Implemented suggestions based on previous search history. This will help you quickly recall important messages, files and more on mobile.

 



Labels

You can now search for messages under a specific Gmail label to return results only within it. You can also use search chips in the Gmail search bar to refine label searches. This way you optimize the time to find what you need.


Related Results

For Gmail search queries that do not return results, related results will be shown to improve the overall search experience.



Improves and speeds up file sharing on Google Drive

Trusted rules offer more control over how files are shared, both inside and outside the company. For example, administrators can limit which specific departments can access a resource versus others.

Administrator trustworthiness rules determine with whom you can share and collaborate on Drive files.

Administrators can now enable this feature in the Admin Console by accessing Rules > Enable Trustworthiness Rules.

Also now simplified is the sharing of files with the people you usually share them with on Google Drive. With this feature, suggested recipients will be displayed in the dialog box to speed up collaboration within the organization.


Manage the "Do Not Disturb" feature on Google Chat

Customize the "Do Not Disturb" feature in Google Chat , set a recurring schedule so that you are not disturbed by notifications on Web, Android and iOS.

Turn off the sound of notifications during your regular lunch break or automatically set "Do Not Disturb" during the weekend. Take advantage of this feature to better focus without distractions or to completely disconnect from work when needed.
