On April 22, as has been the case every year since 1970, we celebrate Earth Day.
Earth Day, Earth Day, reminds us that that of the planet is a priority that should not be neglected. A topic heard especially in recent years, involving citizens as well as companies committed to embracing eco-sustainability projects.
On this day Google wanted to dedicate a doodle to some wonderful creatures that inhabit the planet, launching a survey and some green reflections. The project curated in conjunction with the California Academy of Sciences and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation aims to raise awareness that everyday habits, whether at home, in the office, or in our purchases, can make a difference (we point you to it here).
It is precisely because the preservation of the planet is sustained day after day that Big G continues to document through data, percentages and projects its corporate policy to impact the planet as little as possible. We, too, embrace this vision and want to support and communicate it as Google Cloud Partners.
Google is the world's largest purchaser of renewable energy!
"Since 2010, we have signed 26 agreements to purchase nearly 3 GW of renewable energy," you can read in the 2018 report, "which is equivalent to eliminating the consumption of the emissions of 1.3 million cars a year. And in 2012, we set a long-term goal, to purchase enough renewable energy for all the electricity we consume globally on an annual basis."
Powering and operating data centers, offices, and other infrastructure, in fact, requires a lot of electricity, so it is a priority for Google to become more energy efficient and to compensate by using energy from renewable sources such as wind and solar systems and reduce carbon emissions that have been at zero since 2007.
