This App works with drag and drop: just drag and drop the content you want to insert (videos, photos, text boxes) in a simple and intuitive way.

But let's see in detail what is changing:

    • Template for the quick and easy creation of high-quality sites optimized for common uses.
    • Banner ads to highlight important information to make sure site visitors see your updates.
    • Family Link account access: allows users with Google accounts managed by Family Link to view and edit sites.

Why are these updates important?

These new features make it easier to create and use Google Sites, especially as those who are facing this pandemic time.

Banner ads, for example, can help companies quickly communicate important information to their customers.

The use of templates offer quality without requiring design or coding skills and can come to the aid of Institutions and School to enable distance learning and training.

In essence, even the Google Sites App can be a more useful tool for sharing information remotely.

The Sites templates

Google has created 10 templates for common uses, available in 16 languages.

Just one click to create a site with a professional look. You can customize. You will find:

    • Help centers to help users learn how to use new tools and resources, such as tools for smart working or leveraging distance learning.
    • Project sites to help colleagues or classmates collaborate on a project remotely.
    • Dedicated team sites to have all the resources and information you need in one repository.
    • Club sites: this is to enable students to continue group activities during remote learning.
    • Sites for Small Business to keep customers informed about your business, such as your restaurant or consulting services, while you continue to do so remotely.

More will undoubtedly be added to these.

Banner ads

Banners help site owners communicate important and timely messages to visitors.

The information will be displayed in a banner at the top of the site, drawing attention when users reach your page.

Here are some ways to use them:

    • If you are the head of a very structured team you can add a banner to the employee resource site highlighting the pages and information you just added.
    • Small business owner can add a banner to notify customers that business hours or business practices are changing.
    • A teacher can add a banner to inform students that a new assignment has been posted.

To add a banner select in the upper right Settings then on Ad Banners.

Access for accounts managed with Family Link

Until now, users with personal Google accounts managed with Family Link (helps parents to track the browsing activities of children and teens on Android devices and set some basic digital rules) were unable to view or edit sites.

While personal Google accounts managed by Family Link can now access Sites, students with G Suite for Education accounts can continue to use their school accounts to access and complete assignments in Sites and with other G Suite Apps.

This applies only to sites created after the inclusion of these new features. Fill out the form below to request more information.
