We want to tell you about an experience a little different from the usual.
You probably know that in power2cloud we follow processes related to digitization for all kinds of organizations, but this time we took up an activity that is still new to us, that of digital workshops for kids, which has proven to be an incredible experience again.
"It all came about through collaboration with the Dedalus Social Cooperative, which coordinates the Think Big project in Campania. The goal? To fight educational poverty also by means of technology.
In the classroom we bring our skills and all our enthusiasm together with the Dedalus tutor,Fatima Ouazri, supported by Ruslan, Enzo and Emilia.
Imagine, explains Alessia Impagliazzo of power2Cloud, a group of 12- to 17-year-olds from different countries coming together in the classroom, creating an incredible mix of languages and cultures.
Some speak Spanish, some French, some Arabic, and of course Italian-we do our best.
At first I admit, it felt like a Babel, then, between one exercise and another, between a smile and a joke translated thanks to Google Translator, we started to be more close-knit.
And don't think we only talk about digital solutions such as Google Workspace or Canva applications, there is room in our workshops for creativity, reading, writing, interviews, and even some treats.
"Kids, like all their peers," Alessia continues, "are phenomena with smartphones, but when it comes to computers and keyboard....there is a lot to work with.
In the digital labs we help them discover the full potential of Google Workspace, which, by its predisposition, solicits with technical skills collaboration and sharing in real time on the same Sheet, Document or Presentation...a fundamental exercise also for the path of growth."
"The children," confirms Stefano Pisacane of power2Cloud, "are doing didactic exercises to learn how to write on the computer and format texts in Documents. They learn how to use digital tools that can serve them in school as well as at home.
Although we 'fight' often with the passwords of Google credentials, which we punctually try to retrieve, Gmail, Chat and Google Docs have become the main spaces where we confront each other."
With Google Docs, kids practice writing stories, transcribing books or recounting their experiences. Some tell about their favorite dish, some about their passion for music, some about the last book they read.
With Google Sheets, Think Big kids will soon begin to grapple with the world of numbers and formulas. They will learn how to solve problems, manage expenses, and do calculations in a flash.
With Google Workspace, another key element of the power2Cloud workshops is the use of Canva.
This online graphic design tool unleashed the creativity of the students, who brought to life posters, animations and other digital content that will be presented at the end of the project.
Initially I was scared, but with time I pondered and perceived it as an enriching experience for me as well.
I am sure that with their commitment and our support, they will be able to achieve their goals. I hope to contribute in the realization of their dreams.
I am really proud to be part of this great little journey. You guys are strong."
Learning doesn't just happen between the desks; skills go hand in hand with experience.
Last year extra-educational experiences were planned, and Think Big classes stopped by inStazione, a conciergerie present in multiple Italian cities, and D'Ordia, a footwear store and eCommerce store.
Zazzu is not only a place to enjoy delicious traditional Neapolitan dishes, revisited in a balanced way, but it is also a place where you can breathe passion, creativity and inclusion.
The youngsters had the opportunity to interview Valeria, who told how she was able to combine her studies in biology and a doctorate with the love of cooking passed down from her mother.
Also surely significant was the testimony of Mohamed, who at Zazzu's stoves has found not only a job but also a family. "I did not know how to cook, here I learned new dishes, but also Italian and math."
This experience left a beautiful memory. It was possible to discover not only a small corner of the neighborhood and a stimulating work activity, the kids understood how with commitment and passion you can achieve great goals. Besides, let's face it, who can resist the taste of a cup of a steaming cup of tea consumed in company with some artisanal bread and oil?
Our digital adventure does not end here. The digital workshops will continue in 2025 with many new surprises and challenges to face together.
Stay tuned!
